How it works
How to use your Delaware First Health coverage at Stellar.
Three steps, and you only need to handle the first one. Stellar's team handles everything else.
2. Free Medicaid evaluation
At the visit, our orthodontist completes a full exam, takes diagnostic photos and x-rays, and scores the HLD Index. You leave knowing whether your child qualifies for Delaware First-covered braces.
3. We submit pre-auth
If your child qualifies, our team submits the complete pre-authorization package to Delaware First Health electronically. Approval typically takes 2 to 4 weeks.
4. Treatment begins
Braces are placed in a single appointment. You return every 6 to 8 weeks for adjustments with the same Stellar orthodontist. No member cost-share for the covered Delaware First services.

Generally no. Delaware First Health Medicaid covers traditional fixed metal braces for medically necessary cases. Invisalign and clear ceramic braces are upgrades that require private payment, and we can walk through financing options.
